Susan and me

My sister Susan and I live in Toronto, Canada. We are relative newcomers to the world of miniatures, having built our first dollhouse in 1991. Since then, we have collaborated on many projects and developed our own specialties, drawing upon our earlier hobbies and experiences to guide us.

Susan has always had an interest in architecture and carpentry and now designs and builds 1:12 scale furniture, dollhouses, room boxes, etc., and her work is owned by collectors in Canada, the US, Australia and Italy. She also assists me by making wheelbarrows, planters and other accessories to complement my plants and food items.

In the past, I have illustrated books, exhibited my paintings and drawings in private galleries, and was once the recipient of a Canada Council arts grant. I have found that specializing in dollhouse miniatures provides me with a much broader range of subject matter than my earlier artistic endeavors.

Following are some comments from friends and customers about my work:

“I can't tell you how much pleasure the wonderful plants and flowers I’ve bought from you have given me! I keep some on my desk so I can admire them while I am working, and people come by and ask, ‘Are those REAL plants?’ That’s how realistic they are.”

~ Lynn Suzanne Gould (Milan, Italy)

“Every time I receive one of your miniatures, I'm amazed at the beauty and quality of the workmanship. And I'm always discovering just how versatile an artist you are. Your plants, flowers and foods hold a treasured place in my miniature collection.”

~ Marilyn Rutkoski (Bolingbrook, IL)

“I have shown the plants and flowers I bought from you last year at the Toronto show to several people, especially the lilies and the orchids, and everyone is incredulous at the realistic detail and careful artistry. I am a garden designer and have a lot of ‘garden savvy’ friends so that is saying something!”

~ Barbara Lee Scott (Avon, NY)
